Inspired by the legendary Bentley racing cars of the 1920s and 1930s, this beautifully engineered 1952 Bentley Mark VI Special captures the spirit of W.O. Bentley's original philosophy: "To build a fast car, a good car, the best in its class." Paying faithful homage to the iconic Speed Six and Le Mans Bentleys, this remarkable Special blends period-correct aesthetics with exceptional craftsmanship and bespoke engineering. Finished in classic hand-built aluminium coachwork, this is far more than a cosmetic recreation. Conceived, engineered and painstakingly constructed over many years, it offers a thrilling driving experience while showcasing the ingenuity and attention to detail of its highly skilled creator. Built by DLB Engineering in Northamptonshire, specialists renowned for the restoration of Bentley and Jaguar motor cars, this Bentley Mark VI represents a true labour of love and an outstanding example of British engineering craftsmanship. BESPOKE ENGINEERING: Commissioned approximately ten years ago, this Special began life as a 1952 Bentley Mark VI Saloon, a car that was sadly beyond economical restoration due to extensive body corrosion and catastrophic engine failure. Rather than being lost, it became the foundation for an exceptional engineering project. To accommodate the magnificent 6.7-litre straight-eight, the original chassis was professionally extended by approximately 16 inches at the front while being shortened by a corresponding amount at the rear. This meticulous work was completed on a precision machine table, with additional structural reinforcement incorporated to preserve the renowned rigidity of the Bentley chassis, including retention of its cruciform construction. The redesign also allowed the original pedal box and gearbox position to remain unchanged, resulting in a remarkably natural driving position.
